Three card poker is also sometimes called tri-card poker and the reason for the name is pretty obvious. You only play with three cards instead of five! This form of poker is a semi challenging game, and not difficult to learn; it is played on a table which is marked with a square and two circles. There are two different wagers which can be placed and these are placed in the circles. The top circle is for the “pair-plus” bet and the bottom circle for the “ante” bet.

You are dealt three cards and are only allowed to look at them when the dealer says so. In this form of poker, you place your bets before the cards have been dealt, and it has to be the same amount for both wagers. You don’t have to place both bets however, you may only place one if you wish.

When playing three card poker the dealer has to have a queen or higher in order to win the hand, if you have higher cards, then you win. Certain types of three card poker also offer a multiplier on the ante bet, but the pair-plus bet is where the big money is made, and for a straight flush the player can make as much as 40 – 1 on a win.
